Frosted Cinnamon Roll Pop Tarts Review

you know, i wouldn’t consider myself a pop tart connoisseur, but i do like to try some of the more “out there” flavors that still seem reasonably appealing.

when i saw these cinnamon roll flavored pop tarts on the shelf beside the classic “brown sugar cinnamon” flavor, i knew i had to try them and see what could possibly be different.

they are very different indeed. the frosting is icing white color as opposed to the brown sugar brown, and the crust clearly had a bit of cinnamon mixed in adding a speckled look.

the frosting on the box was much more impressive than the real thing… i find this too often be the case with pop tarts, i feel so lucky any time i get one with full, even, coverage.

i was genuinely disappointed with the look of these when i opened the pack, so hopefully the taste will make up for it.

alright, let's get into it. first impressions, this pop tart is pretty tasty! starting with the texture, the icing is nice and crisp, melt in your mouth. the pop tart has a really gooey cinnamon filling, much less dry than the brown sugar cinnamon one. it still has the classic pop tart mouthfeel, but its almost a little bit more doughy and sticky.

the flavor surprised me ! it's a nice and soft cinnamon roll flavor. it's sweet, but not too sweet. it is somewhat reminiscent of a pillsbury dough boy cinnamon roll, but a bit smoother and less sharp. both have a slightly chemical aftertaste that you'll either love or hate. personally, i find it to be deliciously artificial.

so what's the verdict ? i've gotta say that i enjoyed these frosted cinnamon roll flavored pop tarts ! they reminded me of being a kid in a mid 2000's coffee shop, i wasn't drinking coffee then, but i was getting a little bit of coffee cake as a treat sometimes. similar vibe.

would i purchase these again ? no.

would i eat another one if given the chance ? yes :) i think i would.
