Trip to Soap Plant WACKO

I went up to LA today with Fig, it was a lot of fun!

We were initially going to go to this art supply warehouse place (not in LA) but it apparently is right on the edge of an evacuation zone for this chemical tank that is potentially going to EXPLODE,,, and we didn't want to take the risk on that...

If the chemical tank were to explode, it is expected to explode in the opposite direction of the art supply store, but still, we didn't want to risk it. So we went up to LA instead and went to Soap Plant WACKO. They're calling it the 2nd happiest place on earth—and I'd say that's true. What's the first supposed to be though, Disneyland ? 🤢 no thanks.

Anyways, I'm glad we went, we were supposed to go a little while ago for Fig's birthday, but things didn't work out quite right at the time. Soooo, this time it's birthday 2.0 at the 2nd happiest place on earth, heck yeah !

Soap Plant WACKO is so cool, they have so many interesting books and knickknacks, they even have their own art gallery.

a collection of ceramic bottles with a photograph printed across them featuring a man in outside his trailer home.
sculpture of bear with baby bears hanging on
a colorful vase with intricate patterns of bright flowers
ceramic sock puppet making classic sock puppet face.
another sock puppet but this one looks like a goofy snail.
decaying ceramic face with real dead flowers coming out of various places.

So much cool art, I really liked the ceramic sock puppets, so intricate and lifelike. This is dorky, but I'd love to make a puppet one day. Maybe I'll blog about it if I ever do make one. I think puppets are endearing, and it'd probably be a lot of fun to make one exactly how I want it to be. Kinda like making a Build a Bear, but even more unique !

an alien boy and a human girl. i think they're in love, but the placard says they're friends.

In the hallway that goes to the bathroom at the very furthest end of this place, they had this painting of two friends. (a alien on the left, and human girl on the right) Idk why I find this painting so peaceful. I love that the alien has a picture of the girl's eye on his shirt. The sky, the colors, everything about this painting is just so soothing to me.

Guess what is right next to WACKO !! An art store :')

We got to go to an art store after all !! The art supply store is interestingly named Blue Rooster Supply Co lol. I liked this art store, it's a little on the small side, but they still had a lot of things. They had so many different notebooks and pens. They also had these mix and match double sided alcohol markers. I built one that has the colors Avocado and Red Grapefruit, they go really well together.

Here's a little drawing i made of fig with the new markers I got.

Oooh ! I got a new pencil too, two pencils actually.

The first pencil is a Blackwing Pearl, I've never had a Blackwing pencil before, but I have taken them for a test drive before, and this is the one I like the most, so now I finally have my own.

The second pencil is called SumoGrip. It's a chunky mechanical pencil with 0.9 lead and a huge long eraser. It's so good, I think this may be my new favorite pencil. It feels really good in the hand, and it also looks really pretty too. (It's clear.)

After the art store, we got a bite to eat at this little pizza spot next door. Square pizza, focaccia style. It was yummy ! The one I got was pretty basic, just cheese but it had like pesto and tomato sauce on it. It was delicious and soft and crispy at the same time. Good vibes in the pizza place too. I also got a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. It claims to be the original. They say they've been around since 1869. Could be true, but I've never heard of it 😅

What a beautiful day today. I've gotta get out of the house more :)

I'll wrap it up here. Siouxsie is in my lap purring, and it's totally past my bed time, I'm just looking at the clock and it's 1:45 AM.

OOPS !

XOXO
